Ways to join ASB

Our core program at A Step Beyond is interconnected and immersive. We accept students through our Fall into Dance application period as well as our Step into Dance community outreach classes. Once a student is accepted, we provide regular and ongoing dance enrichment, academics, and family services, supporting them through their high school graduation and beyond.

Fall Into Dance

Fall into Dance is A Step Beyond’s primary recruitment tool.  During Fall Into Dance, A Step Beyond partners with teaching artists from Mojalet Dance Collective who teach hour-long dance master classes to all 3rd and 4th grade students in our 11 partner elementary schools in Escondido and San Marcos. From there, A Step Beyond hosts Q&A sessions for students and parents and invites all students to come audition for our 10-year program.  Auditions are held annually in early fall.

Annual Auditions for Our 10 Year Program

September

Auditions for our 10-year program with our full range of services including dance, academics, and family services are held annually in September.

What to Expect:

Youth come learn a dance, perform in front of the judges, and parents receive an orientation on what to expect and commitments. They must wear clothes to move in, dance barefoot, and bring water. Parents must accompany their child and attend an informational meeting.
